Everything you need to know about partnership
We know Partnership is a big decision which is why transparency is so important.
-
Do you have production quotas?
Dentalcorp does not and will never set production quotas. Our Partners maintain their clinical autonomy, and treatment decisions are at the discretion of individual providers.
-
Does Dentalcorp buy the whole practice?
Each partnership is customized based on what the individual Partner is looking for. However, in most cases, Dentalcorp acquires the clinic as a whole and the Partner is able to realize the full value of their business while continuing to share in the growth of the practice and Dentalcorp.
-
How are clinical decisions made across the organization?
Clinical excellence and patient outcomes are at the heart of everything we do, which is why we look to our clinical experts to help guide decisions that impact clinical practice. Our Advisory Committee is made up of clinical professionals across the network, shaping Dentalcorp’s strategic direction and clinical best practices. Our Chief Dental Officer, Gary Glassman, plays a key role in advancing the patient care agenda and developing the curriculum for DC Institute, our industry-leading continuing education arm.
-
How can Dentalcorp help my practice grow?
Experts within the Support Centre are dedicated to helping you maximize patient care, growth potential and success in a number of areas, including:
- New patient growth and retention: our Practice Marketing team provides advanced tools to optimize your patient communications. Our patient-facing hellodent service also drives new patients to your clinic.
- Clinical offering: we can help you expand your service offerings by providing training and mentorship programs that benefit your entire team.
- Technology and support: we help you implement the use of the latest innovative technologies, allowing your team to work more efficiently and provide a greater range of services to patients.
-
How does being public impact Dentalcorp Partners?
Simply put, we offer more transparency and follow a more rigorous compliance process, so you always know what is going on. Becoming a public company has had the most impact on finance, risk and compliance policies as we follow more stringent financial audits and controls than in the past, with minimal impact to our practices.
As a public company, we release in-depth financial results publicly on a quarterly basis, offering greater transparency than most private companies.
Additionally, Dentalcorp shares are usually included in the purchase price of a practice acquisition, and shareholders hold more control when liquidating their equity as opposed to depending on a large-scale liquidity event.
-
How does Dentalcorp value a dental practice?
Our ideal Partners have built long-standing, mature, successful practices with a stable patient base and a diverse provider pool dedicated to clinical expertise.
We base our assessment on a variety of factors related to the practice (including patient demographics, diversity and specialization of services, continuity of care, practice history and reputation, concentration of clinical providers and competitive landscape) and factors related to the facility (size, capacity utilization, location, age of equipment and lease terms).
-
How is Dentalcorp different from other Dental Service Organizations (DSO)?
As the largest DSO in Canada, we are proud to offer the most extensive scale of support and resources to our practice network. Our expert teams have a proven track record for achieving outstanding results in relevant industries, including healthcare, pharmacy, and retail.
Our leadership team has a deep respect for clinical expertise and brings their own business backgrounds to expand services across the network in order to advance patient care.
Additionally, in accordance with our public offering, we offer a level of transparency on our business operations and financial performance that often cannot be found with private counterparts.
-
How long do most Partners stay on after acquisition?
Each partnership is different and customized to the motivations of the practice principal. Most Partners continue to practice for at least 5 years to maximize value and successfully transition their practice and their patients. Some Partners choose to reduce their time in clinic towards the end of their agreement, and others actually treat more patients since their time is no longer taken up by admin work.
For multi-clinic Partners the term adjusts as we continue to make capital investments in the growth of their group of practices.
-
How will my team be impacted?
Your team and the skills they bring to your practice are invaluable, and we’re here to help them grow.
During the practice integration process, we’ll work with you and your team to ensure they are comfortable and excited to be part of the network. Your team will benefit from an enhanced employee experience with access to our best-in-class benefits package, training and mentorship programs, engagement initiatives, and more.We strive to provide the most rewarding professional experience to all Dentalcorp team members.

What should I consider when selling my practice?
A long-term plan for the future of your practice is important for ensuring the well-being of your team and your patients. Consider the involvement you want to have after the sale, and how many years you want to continue working for. Search for the right buyer who truly shares your values and business philosophy, and evaluate whether the opportunity fits your financial goals. When I partner with Dentalcorp, will I have to change the name of my clinic and branding?
We don’t brand our clinics under Dentalcorp. The community feel of local dental practices is important and that they maintain independent branding. In select situations, we have to rebrand and when we do it is done in consultation to create a brand that suits the local market.
-
Will I have to change my approach to practicing dentistry?
No – that’s why we wanted to partner with you. We understand that you know what's best for your patients, and by maintaining your clinical autonomy you’ll be able to continue providing the best care possible.
-
Will I have to change the clinical supplies used in my practice?
As the leader of your practice, you’ll continue choosing the clinical supplies you prefer to offer the best care. However, as a Partner, you have the option to take advantage of exclusive access to our preferred pricing programs with best-in-class suppliers.
